I bought this because my laptop is 6 years old, still going strong, but heats up fast making my thighs hot. I was afraid unit would catch on fire. So I decided to buy this. Plugged it in and turned on laptop, no more burning thighs and no more heat from bottom. This is working great.Yes, I recommend it.

I specifically purchased this one because it doesn't have "legs" that would poke into MY legs (since that's how I primarily use my "laptop" -- you know, on my LAP -- like it's meant to) and for the neoprene fabric over the plastic. Sounds much more comfortable than hard, sweaty plastic! It works great! The fans are quiet, the laptop (and my lap) stays cool, and it's super comfortable sitting directly on my legs. The rubber grips hold my laptop in place perfectly so it doesn't slide down even if I am (because, let's face it, sometimes I slouch) ;)

I REALLY LIKE THIS LAPTOP COOLER. FANS ARENT VERY LOUD. IT ARRIVED TODAY AND IS ALREADY MAKING MY LAPTOP RUN COOLER. CAN TELL JUST BY THE TOP OF LAPTOP BEING COOL TO TOUCH INSTEAD OF WARM TO VERY WARM. I-7 PROCESSORS DO TEND TO RUN HOT IN LAPTOPS. TARGUS HAS A GREAT REPUTATION. I WOULD GIVE IT 5 STARS BUT SINCE ITS DAY ONE I CAN'T COMMENT ON LONGEVITY. HAVING HAD EXPERIENCE WITH TARGUS BEFORE THEY APPEAR TO LAST LONGER THEN THE OTHER CHEAPLY MADE BRANDS. GOT IT ON SPECIAL. NO SILLY LED LIGHTS TO PLAY WITH. PLUG AND PLAY. THERE IS A LITTLE OVERHANG OFF THE SIDES WITH A 17 INCH LAPTOP BUT PLENTY OF ROOM FOR FRONT TO BACK. AND WHEN ITS NOT SITTING ON THE BED MY LAP STAYS COOL ALSO. LOL ON SPECIAL IT WASNT MUCH MORE THEN THE CHEAPER MADE GLITZY LED LIGHTED MODELS. IF I WAS TO COMPLAIN IT WOULD BE THAT THE BASE IS MADE OUT OF A THICK PLACTIC WHICH MIGHT CUT DOWN ON WEIGHT BUT I HAVE HAD TARGUS LAPTOP CHILLERS THAT WERE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE COMFORTABLE SITTING IN MY LAP. THE BUILT IN USB CORD FOR USB POWERED . ONE REVIEWER SAID HIS ORIGINAL LASTED 6 YEARS WITH NO CLEANING OF THE FANS. THEY CAN BE REMOVED AND CLEANED PERIODICALLY SO THER IS LESS STRESS ON THEM. AND THEY ARE SECURELY SCREWED IN PLACE SO THOSE PESKY CLIP ON FANS DONT FAL OFF LIKE SOME OTHERS. THANKS TARGUS.

My laptop gets very hot so I ordered this cooling pad and it is wonderful! My laptop does not get hot anymore. This is a great product!

I often use my laptop sitting my my recliner with it on my lap which impedes cooling. This is a must for using the computer when placed on one's lap.

Works as expected – cools well and is reasonably quiet.The fan keeps my laptop cool, and the noise level is low — not distracting at all.Nice design feature:You can use the pad without turning on the fan during light use, which still helps with ventilation underneath.Charging cable:Long enough to easily reach a USB port on my laptop.Value:Great price for the performance.One thing to note:The pad tilts your laptop slightly upward. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it might feel a bit awkward for typing at first.

My problem isn't the computer getting hot. Its my legs when I'm using the laptop...well...in my lap.Despite a few days of looking at lap coolers, none of them want to address the LAP. A little fan, some aluminum to wick away heat or protect your jewels from sweating. Good luck either finding that, or having anyone talk about it.After seeing nothing (memory foam stuff that'd be hot, plastic stuff, things that'll make more heat IN your lap, I tried this despite a lack of pics of the bottom. I saw 'neoprene' and thought "that's going to be warm", and it is. It totally does nothing for accumulating leg heat. Fan is inside, bottom is solid plastic and has a thin layer of neoprene finished on either side with a sharp plastic edge that is definitely slicing my fingers open if I'm holding it with either hand and the weight of the laptop makes it move laterally.Not great for your lap, not great for YOU getting warm, and it's a couple of razors on the bottom.Make it all aluminum, try to NOT have pieces sharp as knives and/or having the fan cool BOTH sides of the platform and it'd be fine. As for using it on a desk, not the lap, there isn't enough cooling capability to make any difference in system performance.So while this is an easy engineering problem to solve, as far as I can tell nobody has actually done that, this is as close as it gets, and it misses the mark.I even tried taping a flat aluminum cookie sheet to the bottom to disperse heat, and the pad on the aluminum on my lap is even warmer than just the laptop by itself.

Clever design. Perfect for laps. Does what it claims. Not too draining on battery life. Love it!
