Kills weeds
This works well to kill weeds when mixed with salt and Dawn. Note that this is a contact herbicide and will only kill leaves it contacts. It will need to be repeated.

I’ll never use household vinegar to clean anything again
I think all of those cleaning experts that said to use household vinegar to clean something we’re wimps or morons. Unless you’re doing something like cleaning glass and don’t have anything better to do, household vinegar is a waste of time. This stuff cuts through years worth of corrosion and gunk in minutes. It has a much stronger vinegar smell but I don’t hang around while something is soaking in it because I don’t have to scrub the item and can do something else with my time while it does the work. Use it outside or use a fan if the smell is too strong. It ate 20 years worth of oxidation and rust off some old steel rubber casters, dirt and film off 50+ year old aluminum window frames that probably had never been cleaned, and right now is dissolving concrete off an aluminum pole (the concrete sludge in the bottom of the bucket tells me it’s working), and a ton of other things like weeds in cracks of the sidewalk and around the foundation and yard, rust and other stains on fabrics, burned-on gunk on aluminum pans, rust on chrome plated metal, and dozens of other things. HOWEVER don’t let painted metal soak and forget about it because it will eat the paint and start eating the metal. ALSO be sure to wash out tank sprayers after using because it will eventually eat the rubber gaskets or at least warp them and they won’t form a seal. For getting the work done fast, 45% is perfect for everyday use. I’ve tried 20% and 30% and they didn’t work well enough for my needs once I diluted them as directed. 75% is excellent but can cause damage in no time if you aren’t careful. 45 and 75 are worth every cent. No chemicals or cleaners I’ve tried have worked better. It can’t be used on everything so use common sense.

Best deal anywhere…but
The thought of having something not so toxic for killing weeds is a great idea, but this doesn't kill the root, so the stuff will definitely grow back. But it definitely turned weeds brown in a matter of hours

Weed kryptonite
Nukes any vegetation in 12-24 hours. Use full strength in garden sprayer (ones designed for caustic stuff like Roundup or deck cleaner are best, or use a cheap sprayer with all plastic parts). Use a fairly fine mist (you don't need to soak the leaves for it to work). Watch out for the wind as overspray will kill stuff nearby. Also, try to spray with the wind going away from you, otherwise you will be choking on the vinegar fumes. If you don't want vegetation to return for many months, you can add salt. Don't use salt if you plan on anything being able to grow in the sprayed spots anytime soon.Pickeling salt is fine grained, cheap and dissolves fast-ish. Do not use Epsom salt, it is essentially magnesium and will not kill your weeds - it may actually help them to grow (just ask people who care for roses or tomato plants). Don't use more than about 1.5 cups of salt per gallon of vinegar because it may not dissolve completely and can clog your sprayer. Give the salt time to dissolve (a few hours or overnight) just don't try to spray until it is dissolved. After a light spraying and 24 hours, even the 6' tall cattails are completely toast (solid white from top to bottom, not just the spots where the droplets hit the plant). A surfactant might even boost the absorption but it is completely unnecessary. Probably best to wash sprayer out with soap and maybe some baking soda after you are done (make sure to spray the cleaning solution through the wand and valves, not just the tank). 2 gallons did about 200' of large ditchbank if you move fast enough and spray quickly and lightly.

Works well, but a little slower than expected.
Used to clear grass and weeds in the large, vacant area of my property! Some areas needed a second dose.
