Noble Locks Mac Book Pro Retina 15" Lock kit

This is a clever rig, easy to put on and to use. However, the fact that it is aluminum and that the locking tabs are only slightly larger than the locking slot means that a good hard jerk on the cable will deform the slot and pull the locking mechanism right out. Viola, one stolem laptop that isn't even damaged. The cable is also very thin, the wire-cutting portion of even a cheap pair of pliers will shear right through it.This is a great idea, but needs improvement. The locking bracket that attaches to the computer needs to be steel, not aluminum. The tabs on the lock need to be longer. The cable needs to be substantially thicker. Do these things, and this could become the best solution on the market for the MacBook Pro.

Seems like a low-quality device, but my laptop hasn't been stolen yet so who knows. It needs to be sitting just so, planar with the desk or else the laptop doesn't sit levelly. Also it seems like the key only fits in the lock a certain way, if you flip the key it goes into the lock but doesn't seem to unlock it so it's quite annoying when you're trying to leave in a rush. When I installed it I had the screen up, and when I tried to close it the lock gouged a small area on the edge of the lid, but this can be avoided if you rotate the lock around so that it's planar. In short it is easy to install, but a little user-unfriendly and seems like it might be quite easy to break. I'm going to keep it though due to lack of better options (as far as I'm aware).

Look, this isn't the 'optimum' solution for a 15" MacBook Pro Retina, but it's probably the 'best' you're gonna get without supergluing some stupid lanyard permanently to your computer like other solutions. Yes, any thief with a pentalobe screwdriver (and the time) can detach the security bar in about three minutes. With a cable cutter they can nick your MacBook in about three seconds. BUT for the casual 'walking past' thief this does the job. You might not think that's a big deal, but I have worked at three places where computers were stolen off desks by people who'd snuck into the facility, and two of those were in keyless entry facilities. So, yeah, it happens.It took me all of about five minutes to attach the bracket to the bottom of my MBPr, replacing the OEM screws with the longer provided ones. Another two minutes to wrap the cable around my desk and snap the wedge lock into the bracket lock port. Viola! Keep in mind, this is a keyed lock, not a combo, but it's lower profile and since I keep the key in another room, gives me the peace of mind that nobody's gonna unlock it casually.I bought this from AV House and they delivered it ASAP in two days. Tremendous! Especially for something 'not eligible for Amazon Prime.'

It is not as safe as I would want it to be. The screws are exposed and my case does not fit over it. Would not buy again. The keys are also hard to operate and probably easy to pick.

No complaints about this lock. It was easy to install, and an able work-around for Apple's decision to remove the traditional lock socket on the new MacBook Pro Retinas. Had no problems using it (then again, no one tried to steal my laptop, either).

great until it doesn't work. my lock mechanism failed after 13 months of VERY little use. "sorry, we have a one year warranty". great.

I use this lock at work so that students don't happen to take off with my MacBook Pro. I love it.
