This deluxe 4CD+DVD book edition 'Suede' celebrates the 25th anniversary of it's original release, and includes the album; the b-sides; a CD of demos, monitor mixes (several previously unreleased) and the band's first BBC radio session, arranged chronologically; plus a concert from February 1993. The DVD features six contemporary TV performances (including their first ever TV appearance), and an hour-long film of Brett and Bernard Butler discussing the writing and recording of the album, all issued for the first time. Also included is a new note by Brett about his memories of the recording of the album, along with the lyrics, hand-written lyric drafts, tape boxes, and photos from the band's collections. Brett Anderson believes that 'Suede' probably has more cultural resonance than any other of their albums, as a pre-cursor to Britpop and a supplanter of grunge.

I am not really happy with this set, and I am shocked to say this BUT I actually regret my purchase!!
Just got this in the mail today...with the Brett-signed print of "Metal Mickey" lyrics...I am not really happy with this set at all...now, the original album is 5 star classic and like Liz Phair's "Exile In Guyville" a culturally important and influential groundbreaking debut album from 1993...and it looks nice with the silver cover and glossy pages, but overall, this 25th anniversary box is a more than a tad disappointing...why?? Edsel did not include everything from the 2011 reissue and build on it, mainly the DVD...no vidclips, no "Love & Poison" concert, no Leadmill visual...yes there is an audio of that gig on CD4 though, but it ends/gets cut off midway into the last song!! And the sound quality on it is not very good, like it was recorded from the bottom of a toilet or something like a bad bootleg...the video of it from the last set sounds much better and the last song is not cut off at all. The previous deluxe had a discussion of the album by Brett & Bernard 26 minutes... This box has one from 2013 over an hour long, but their voices you can barely hear and it gets boring QUICK...there are also TV appearances not on the older set as well as a full set of demos, monitor mixes, etc... only partial on the older set...but the extra tracks are the same songs repeated and little difference...there is a new note by Brett, again, not much different from the older set...just wish they carried it all over into the new box...now I had to rebuy the older set...cheap yes...but I wish I didn't have to do it at all, that should be the idea with updated anniversary sets like this...my advice...if you have the older set, don't sell it, and this box is only BARELY optional...nuff said...the 2LP silver RSD vinyl looks great too...gatefold and Silver coloured vinyl..nice...Got the older set in the mail the other day, and usually, I prefer newer sets...this is a rare exception...this new box is fairly useless and a waste of money if you ask me...order the old one and avoid this new one unless you are desperate...sorry Edsel...

If you received the black vinyl version of this record....PLEASE READ !!!!
Okay, here is the deal.....i have read MANY reviews about the SILVER edition of this 2 LP vinyl. Sadly, customers are very disappointed with the sound. There are many different reasons. i have heard that the black vinyl is much much better. You have the right copy for great sound. Wanted to let you know. Cheers.

A great purchase on vinyl!
I can understand people who bought the deluxe version of this album on CD some years feeling a little peeved about this release - at least if bought on CD. A bit. Sure, a lot of content is the same, but there is content on this release that hasn’t been released before.Where this release really wins is on vinyl. Anyone who bought Sci-fi Lullabies on vinyl will be aware that it didn’t include some recordings: Painted People, Dolly, Brass In Pocket (ok, not a b side) and the piano version of My Insatiable One. To my mind, unless you own the original 12”s, this is the first time these recordings have been available on vinyl within a collection.Sure, if you’re looking at the CD, the great content you may already have on that previous deluxe version - but this is a great purchase on vinyl. The sound of the vinyl brings a little more clarity and presence compared to the standard version. Not a fan of the silver cover, I have to say . Also some people have complained that they thought the actual vinyl was silver. I’m glad that it isn’t - coloured vinyl tends to be poorer quality when compared to its black equivalent. So, all in all, a great purchase on vinyl.

The 'silver' part of the title is deceptive!
The vinyl sounds very fine, so no issues there. Quiet, flat, good dynamics.Beware however, because Amazon list this as a 'silver' edition, which in my opinion suggests silver vinyl. The vinyl is black. Please, Amazon, list your vinyl more accurately! Barcodes would really help.

Warning
Not the silver vinyl RSD version, but standard black vinyl.

Superlativo
