This is a huge jar of celery seed that has been ground. It tastes very fresh and has a very distinct celery flavor to it.While I have often used celery seed, it has been mostly whole. I have ground it myself, with other spices used in a dish, as whole celery seed is sometimes bothersome to eat. This being pre-ground makes it simple to use and lets the celery flavor immediately release into the food.I have used this twice already - the first time in a Chana Dahl, and the second time as part of the seasoning added to a Bloody Mary. Yeah, most of the time celery salt is used in a Bloody Mary, but when you are on a low sodium diet, you find ways to reduce salt added to your dishes.This product is an easy way to add celery seed taste to dishes, without pre-grinding it or having additional salt added. It works for me.

My husband occasionally makes a detox drink that cleanses the liver using lemons, water, and celery seed. I ordered this item for him to continue to that because celery seed is not cheap, and this comes as a 1.5LB container so the price point is very good. He stated it mixes well with his current recipe and notices no difference from this or what he has used. Additionally, this item can be used in recipes such as soup or salads for enhanced flavor.
