A compact router with lots of features; however, it has an unfortunate language issue
It is a very compact router with a lot of impressive features, which I did not find obvious at first. The router supports PPPoE which means you should be able to use it with modem only devices. The LAN speed is 100 Mb/s, which might be high enough for some Internet speeds, but a bit slow if using the router to directly connect computers or for some Internet connection speeds. The basic usage is generally simply enough to configure. However, it can be troublesome at times. The reason being, it has a language issue. The language, for the user interface, temporarily reverts to German (the default language), after the power is lost, until an Internet connection is established (April 2017). It can also end up with a strange mix of non-German and German customisations. This can make setting up and using the device difficult at times. I understand this was by design and has not been done in other FRITZ!Box products. If one does not want the language hassle, it might be better to opt for the FRITZ!Box 4040 router or the FRITZ!Box 3490 modem-router, which can be used just as a router. Be aware that it will probably have a 2-pin European style plug, which means you will need an adapter for UK mains sockets or an alternative power supply. Taking into account the 5-year warranty, it is good value for money.

Everything's in German!
I think this would have done what I wanted but the only instructions were in German. Mine is not good enough to deal with networking issues! They refunded quickly and without argument.
