The silverware holder that came with mine is the same really nice metal and style as the rest of the dish drainer.

Q: I would be using this in the 40 area of a 60/40 sink and it narrows on each end. Has anyone used it in this scenario?

This is where I use it also and it fits just fine.

Q: Any rust problems? Good long term use with anyone?

The problem is not that it rusts, although I’ve only had it for a few months. The problem is with the design. I agree with reviewer D. Farquhar, who clearly and thoroughly explained why this rack is unsuitable for what it was intended. It constantly crashes down into the sink, and with it all of the (no longer clean or intact) dish ware it was temporarily holding. The thing is a stress-making nuisance.
