The dried fruit clogs feeding holes in Squirrel Buster Feeders! This is a healthy mix of seeds for backyard birds. I couldn’t get my usual “Deck, Porch, & Patio” mix by Wild Delight (which is a shell-less mix for feeders that are over a porch which eliminates the need to sweep up empty shells after the birds have eaten), so I purchased this healthy mix. I go through a lot of seed and monitor my feeders so they stay full. I noticed that my Squirrel Buster Plus feeder (which I HIGHLY recommend as the best feeder on the market!) was still relatively full and the birds were suddenly not using it despite it being in the middle of winter. Upon investigation I found that the dried fruit in the mix had clogged the feeding holes and the birds couldn’t access the seed. My feeder was jammed. I’m going to sift through my 20 lbs. of seed and remove the fruit pieces to toss out in the yard for the deer and use the rest of this mix in the feeders, but birds who are accustomed to a feeding site in winter can starve in a matter of days if a feeder goes empty. I’m just glad I investigated to figure out why my birds were rejecting a feeder they usually flock to and discovered the problem in time. This would be a wonderful, healthy mix of seed with no “filler seed” for other types of feeders. However, if you have a Squirrel Buster or Squirrel Buster Plus (and if you don’t, you should!) this is not the seed mix for you!

I feed a large number of birds and use a variety of different seed combos. This was a little pricier than the others I use regularly and thought it would be a nice treat. Much to my surprise none of the different birds have not taken to this.

Brings lots of variety of birds to the yard. Cardinals, and woodpeckers too.

I've used this same bag for about a year with my 3 rats. It's their favorite treat, they come running back to the cage the second they hear the jar shake. Every. Single. Time.
