ChiliPad Temperature Control Single Zone Mattress Pad - Queen

We have owned several of these through the years because our home is hot inside. They have never held up for long. They are expensive. Mold grows inside the water tank even with the proper (distilled) water in the system. The company always makes excuses as to why they break so easily and never wants to honor any warranty on them. Air conditioned mattress toppers are a great idea, but this isn't the product that gets you there.

I'm on my 2nd mattress pad (note that this review is for the single size pad and not queen size). The first leaked, however I got a good year of literal 24/7 use (we're talking it was never ever off the entire time) from it before it began to leak so in that respect I feel the pad and unit held up exceptionally well. When the pad began to leak recently I contacted customer service and was told it was probably condensation, etc and to turn the heat up on it but it was obviously leaking. I purchased a new single size as I felt due to the continual use of the unit and 1st mattress pad over the past year it had performed a good 3 years' worth of 'normal' use. When I received my new pad it started leaking immediately and I'm currently in the process of attempting to get them to send me a replacement. Overall I think the unit performs great (not considering the leaking). It stayed cool constantly in a bedroom with central air with minimal noise from the fan. I made sure to vacuum the vents on the unit weekly as we have cats and I was told their hair can clog the fan and cause problems. I've had no issues (knock wood) with the control unit or remote. The only reason I'm not giving this product a higher rating is due to the immediate leaking of the new replacement mattress pad. If customer service will not replace the leaking pad free of charge I will definitely be downgrading from the current 3 stars I've given the product.UPDATE July 3 2014: After email communication with customer service as well as the rep calling me to see if the issue could be troubleshooted they've shipped me a new mattress pad and said I can dispose of the leaking one however I see fit. I've updated my review to 5 stars due to what I consider to be excellent customer service. I really believe there must be a manufacturing flaw in some of the pads which cause the tubes to leak.
