Worth every penny !!!
I bought the twin mattress set with the new cube in October 2015. I love this product. I use it on my king bed at home as well as on a queen bed when I travel to care for my elderly parents. I have not had any problems thus far. I used to toss and turn all night because I was so hot laying against the bed. Now I sleep better than I have in years. I have my mattress, gel topper, a waterproof mattress pad (just in case), the chili pad, a thin mattress pad and then my sheets. It took me a couple of nights to zero in on the best temperature for my sleep. I turn the unit on 15 minutes before I hop in bed. It saves your temperture setting and cools or warms the bed. The cube is not an air conditioning unit. It is a heat exchanger which is very well designed and made.

From Hot Flash Hell to Heavenly Slumber
Can you say hot flash hell is greatly diminished at night?! I was waking up several times during the night, hot as hell, sweating, uncomfortable, and having great difficulty returning to sleep. I have even gone to the fridge in the middle of the night just to have a blast of freezer air for relief, even though the AC turned was down to 68 degrees. You get the picture. I had been contemplating the Sleep Comfort dual temp pad but was concerned about the poor reviews (not to mention cost). I stumbled across ChiliPad by pure coincidence. I was very skeptical but after reading the reviews from other ladies in hot flash hell, I decided to take a leap of faith and purchased the twin pad for my side of our king size bed. I had intended to give the ChiliPad a trial of a month before posting a review; however, I am doing so after only TWO nights of sleeping on the pad. There are plenty of descriptive postings on the ChiliPad technology, so I am reporting on the effects. It was easy to set up (my husband did) using distilled water. As mentioned, I was doubtful, but the cooling effects seemed to greatly diminished my hot flashes and for the first time in AGES I slept really well. So, of course I had to conduct an experiment the second night. I turned the AC OFF, and guess what....slept like a heavenly angel on a cool cloud. The fan sound was a bit annoying so I reversed the pad so that the fan is now at the foot of my bed which helped. I am purchasing an extension cord to move the ChiliPad cube even further away from my bed ($20 at ChiliPadtechnology.com & free shipping). Otherwise, hot ladies (and gents), I highly endorse this product for its cooling effects. Since I have no intention of ever using the pad for its heating effects, I won't be able to speak to that. Thank you ChiliPad!!!

Happy Wife
Add me to the other men here who have watched their wives get the upper hand on hot flashes, night sweats and the accompanying insomnia from perimenopausal symptoms with this product. I bought it based on these reviews so was compelled to add some information to help other couples who may be in a similar situation make a choice on the purchase. Thank goodness for reviews, I would have been reluctant to drop $450 without them.Let me start by clarifying a point I was wondering before my purchase - unless both partners need the product and you sleep in a large bed (we have a King), go ahead and purchase the twin. This product is flat - it does not have fitted corners so it is easy to put on top of your existing mattress pad and won't bother the other sleeper. We bought an additional waterproof pad to put on the mattress based on other reviews. So yes...we have the waterproof pad over the mattress, our quilted mattress pad on top of that and the ChiliPad on top of that, followed by the fitted sheet. You will save a lot of money buying the twin ($449) versus the king ($999). I figured if we experience a leak down the line as some other reviewers mentioned, it will be much easier to swallow the expense of the replacement pad (I understand about 25-30% of the unit cost) than it would be had I bought a king sized system. It is easy to set up and not terribly loud. You do hear it at first but you get used to it and then it is just background noise that doesn't bother you. We already sleep with my cPap unit running. Suffice it to say we are not bothered by anything else, save for a thunderbolt, do to the background noise we both produce! This unit helped my wife immediately, similar to other reviewers statements. She has had to dial in on the temp she prefers based upon whether she wants to sleep in shorts/tank versus pajamas but was able to accomplish this in about a week. She used to wake up sweaty with her back "on fire" and even kept a cool tub of water next to the bed to dip her feet in. All of this has gone away. She sleeps more soundly and for longer stretches. When she starts to heat up, she claims the coolness of the pad keeps it in check and she doesn't overheat. The bed doesn't get as hot directly under her due to the pad and there is always coolness around her to shift to.I would suggest the twin, which is 36" wide versus the single, which is only 28" wide. The difference is about $50 bucks, but the extra 8" of width is worth it and still doesn't impede my side of the bed. We haven't felt a need to buy the additional 4 foot extension hoses as some folks mentioned but I can see the need for it based on bedroom configuration. In any event, you can add that if you feel you need it.Also, one reviewer mentioned they were in Arizona and it didn't work as well because the unit is only as good as the ambient temp it pulls air from. This is true and if you live in a hot environment and don't have or don't use A/C during hot nights I can see it would be an issue. I am assuming more people have A/C - central or a unit for the bedroom, and use it, particularly if they are already having issues like the ones we are discussing here. We keep our bedroom around 72-74 degrees at night and the unit works great.I hope this helps with your decision! Can't put a price on a quality nights sleep...or a happy wife :)1 Year update:Unit continues to work without problems after 1 year. So many reviewers speak about damaged padding/tubing. You have to be cautious with this system! Ours lies above a cheap thin waterproof pad (just in case of a leak)and our regular mattress pad and below the fitted sheet. My wife frequently washes our bedding but does not launder her pad. She carefully rolls it up and sets it aside. There is no need to launder it if you always keep it between freshly laundered bedding. Aside from that - keep the water full, sanitize regularly with a small amount of H2O2 and you should be ok. Good luck!

What a NightSaver!
I have been using this product for about a month and am so grateful to have found it and happy with it. I bought the twin size on the recommendation of other reviewers, as it is expensive and only one person needs it. The bed is queen sized, so it is unsecured but I seldom need to adjust the pad, despite the fact that my bed is a tempurpedic with the foundation that allows me to raise and lower the head and foot of the bed. Every few days we pull the pad up straight.I have severe neuropathies that leave me mostly confined to my bed. This includes autonomic nervous system neuropathies, which affects my ability to regulate my body temperature. I am so hot most of the time that even in the middle of winter I would sweat at night and awaken very damp and uncomfortable. The foam bed is really comfortable but unfortunately very hot too. I had tried different cooling pads but they were not enough. We put this Chilipad on the bed, I set the temp for 65 F and the it cooled down in just a few minutes. I went to bed and and did not awaken during the night, and in the morning I was dry and comfortable. Since that night I have not had a hot night. I am hoping it will do as well during the summer.I have no complaints about the product. The set-up and instructions were easy. It doesn't leak, it stays put (even with my silk sheets), the timer works, the water is easily refillable, it cools fast and best of all, I am finally comfortable after several years of waking up all hot and sweaty. The expense has been well worth it
