It may have said so in the description, but if it did I missed it. I assumed these jars would be usable with a wide mouth 2 piece canning lid. They are NOT.The price is good if you are just using them for fermenting that does not need a ringed lid.I do use the regular canning lids for some of my ferments, especially vegetable ferments since this allows oxygen to escape and carbon dioxide to build as the fermenting process progresses without burping them every day.

I was shipped jars that wasn't what I wanted. The return policy works very well. I followed the return instructions and within 48 hrs I was notified I was refunded. They shipped the 1790 jars to me immediately and it is exactly what I need. It was nice to see the cloth and rubber band inserted in jar to help with fermentation etc. Perfect for what I need to produce my fermented veggies.

The plastic lids screw on and off easily. Love the quality of the muslin cloths. As an herbist, these will definitely be used. But the wonderful packing and box were very impressive. The jars were separated with feet on bottom and top with thick cardboard wrapping. I'm keeping the box and inserts instead of recycling for some future use.

I do like these jars for fermenting; I make water kefir, so it's nice to have the cloth covers and large rubber bands included. When I do the second fermentation, though, I use a regular Mason jar with the 2-part metal lid to get a tighter seal that promotes more fizziness. The glass in these jars seems a little thinner than the regular Mason jars, and I fear that they might not be strong enough with a tight lid. They're great for the initial fermentation, though!

These bottles at OK. But the size of the mouth is not standard wide mouth. That is almost deal breaker for me because of the reason for which I bought them. Will never buy again!

Nope. Never again. I bought these thinking they were standard sizes and would fit universal covers, metal and plastic. Very dissatisfied. Considering a return.

These jars function just fine but the ‘wide mouth’ is NOT the same some as other wide mouth mason jars. The opening is smaller, but it’s larger than regular mouth jars. So it’s an awkward size and won’t fit the strainer lids that I have. The lids that come with these are ok and don’t leak as long as you have the little foam disk that comes in them. I’d prefer if the foam disk wasn’t necessary as I feel the need to remove it to ensure proper cleaning and that’s a pain.
